J.B. Express has over 15,000 carriers in contract, using only 100 of these carriers for 90% of shipments. This allows us to provide a great level of flexibility to meet demands for truck capacity while maximizing the quality of our service. By maintaining a well-monitored carrier network and working primarily with a select group of companies we trust, J.B. Express offers less risk of damage to your materials.
Carrier Safety Management
We screen each carrier’s CSA Score prior to loading their trucks on every shipment. Carriers are classified as being in Good Standing, on Probation, or Disqualified – pending CSA Results. This practice decreases potential liability for both J.B. Express and our customers.
Asset-Based Trucking
Our sister company, Bell Logistics, operates 60 trucks and a wide variety of trailer types. We use our own assets as much as possible for all our customers. See Bell Logistics Co. for more information.

Project Support
J.B. Express provides On-Demand Load Tracking and Daily Shipment Status Updates, as well as monthly KPI Reports to provide clients with statistics on cost, safety, and other key performance indicators for their projects. Our Field Operations team is also available for high-demand jobs. We provide support for our clients’ projects in a multitude of ways. Consolidations
Combining multiple orders from multiple vendors on the same truck generates substantial cost savings.
Vendor Relations
We double check readiness of orders before sending trucks, verify shipping dimensions and weight, and verify special securement instructions to avoid damage.
Field Relations
J.B. Express verifies unloading crew/equipment availability, checks POs and product descriptions before setting up deliveries, and sends daily emails to field locations with incoming delivery details.
Reporting
We email Daily Shipment Status Updates to our customers in addition to emailing Daily Status Updates to Field (incoming materials with ETAs). J.B. Express also provides periodic performance reporting (KPI), detailing monthly on-time/late deliveries, safety incidents (if any), rates reporting/benchmarking, CSA reporting for carriers used each month, and cargo claim statuses (if any).
Field Operations
For large projects, field support can be highly valuable. If you have a long-term or high-volume project, the J.B. Express ground crew is trained in safe, efficient, operational procedures and provides direct support to drivers in coordination with the loading or unloading crew.
We keep big jobs running smoothly by signing in drivers, making sure they have everything they need for load securement (such as dunnage, chocks, pipe stakes, and straps), staging the trucks to be loaded/unloaded, directing them to the proper locations when needed, and monitoring activity to ensure safety at all times. (As an added bonus for pipe projects, we can provide field reps trained in coating repair).
Custom Contoured Dunnage
Large-diameter pipe shipments often require special care. We build custom-contoured dunnage to a perfect fit for high-demand pipe projects. SEE HOW WE DO IT.
Storage
The J.B. Express / Bell Logistics yard in Chillicothe, Ohio, has 4 acres of outside storage as well as heated indoor storage. Cranes are arranged by J.B. Express for loading and unloading. For some of our customers’ previous construction projects, we have used our storage facilities to provide material staging and our in-house trucks and drivers to make final deliveries to the construction sites.
